In this post we will have the opportunity to get to know Eugenia Gómez, a student of the Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Oaxaca, Mexico. In these lines, she tells us about her experience as an international student and how she has benefited from contracting Hospitality, a service committed to the student.
Why did you choose CEU San Pablo to study your degree?
It was always very clear to me that I wanted to study outside my country, and the choice of where I would study was vital. Universidad CEU San Pablo is a high-quality educational institution, not only because of the level of teaching and its professors, but also because of the training in values.
Do you consider training in values to be important?
For me it has always been very important to combine my studies with this type of education. In this sense, the Volunteering and Pastoral Service has helped me in this. I consider it important not only to train as a professional, but also as a person. In addition, the academic level of CEU and its ranking in Forbes magazine helped me to consolidate my decision.
What is the subject that interests you most in your Psychology Degree?
I like all of them very much, but I think my favourite subject is “Fundamentals of Neuroscience”, as it gives us a much more clinical view of the brain and the way it is organised in order to understand people much better, but from a perspective more focused on medicine. Having the opportunity to do it from the first year makes me very happy.
What have you liked most about the University so far?
The academic level they offer makes me a much more disciplined and career-focused person. Having the teachers and their personalised attention has helped me to understand and internalise the knowledge taught. In the same way, I love the student life and the atmosphere of the university on a day-to-day basis. Providing me with opportunities such as being a class delegate, Buddy Program and many other Campus Life activities have made me have an excellent university experience.
Hospitality, a service committed to students
You booked the Hospitality Service when you booked your place with us, could you describe our service?
The treatment I received from the very first moment was exceptional. I have had the opportunity to communicate quickly and effectively, either via email, telephone, and even video call to resolve all my doubts. In addition, the service has an app that is very easy to use and where you can find many resources.
Would you recommend this service to other international students?
Of course, it has been very helpful. To be honest, I don’t know what would have happened to me without their advice. When arriving from a new continent we can often find ourselves a bit lost with paperwork. However, the help of the whole Hospitality service to facilitate the big change that I have experienced when moving to Spain has made my experience much easier. Their service, and especially the attention and kindness of María Angélica, make us feel at home little by little.
