Among the technological innovations that we are including to improve the learning experience of our students is the CEU Metaverse. This initiative was born at CEU Cardenal Herrera, and this year we are bringing it to CEU San Pablo. From Hospitality we will include it for a virtual tour of the University and as a support for the online Spanish course for non-Spanish speakers. What is the Metaverse?
For those who don’t know, the Metaverse is a technology that goes “beyond the universe” we know and imagine; it takes place in the virtual world, allowing the closest possible interaction with reality. The aim is to create a universe of its own that is a reflection of reality, but in a virtual environment with its own identity.
Getting to know the CEU Metaverse
In our case, CEU has developed three versions, depending on the activities to be developed. It is supported by the Minecraft Education platform, where the virtual ecosystem allows us to have a playful and educational tool at the same time. It will facilitate students’ learning, allowing them to do it at a distance and in a simple way. Concepts such as virtual reality and augmented reality, metahuman, bots and avatar, among others, will be presented, allowing students to enjoy the immersive experience to the fullest.
How will Hospitality project the CEU Metaverse?
With our international students in mind, we have included a link to the CEU Metaverse in our Hospitality app so that they can take a virtual tour. In this way, they will get to know all our facilities on both campuses, Moncloa and Montepríncipe, before arriving in Madrid. If students wish to visit our other CEU universities, they will also be able to take this virtual tour.
In addition, the digital transformation team has created a special world for us that will serve as a complement to the activities of the online Spanish course; this is a course designed for non-Spanish-speaking international students. With this we will kick off the CEU Metaverse academic activities.
