The University CEU San Pablo wants to guarantee that its students start their university studies with an adequate academic level. To that end, the University designed a set of preparatory courses, which combined modules from a variety of disciplines. The courses started on August 17th and ended on September 11th.
A total of seven preparatory courses were taught, three of them completely in English.
The Health Sciences course, with modules of biology, chemistry and statistics, taught in English and in Spanish, had a participation of 36 and 35 students.
The Economics course, which consisted in modules of mathematics and statistics, also taught in the two languages, had a participation of 13 and 17 students.
The Engineering and Architecture course, with modules of mathematics, physics and technical drawing, taught in English and in Spanish, had a participation of 16 and 14 students respectively.
Finally, there was a Humanities and Social Sciences course, taught in Spanish, which consisted in language modules, Spanish, European and world history modules, as well as workshops of written and oral expression, as well as a seminar of academic Works. This course had a participation of a total of 32 students.
The preparatory courses, in addition to contributing to the growth of relevant academic knowledge during the students’ first steps of their university education, promoted abilities in two very important topical fields. On one hand, the ability to debate and share knowledge in an international environment. Students coming from different countries, varying all the way from Asia to the Americas, were able to get first-hand experience of the internationalization of the academic environment. On the other hand, thanks to the participation in a 100% digital course, while not underestimating the value of physical presence in learning, the students acquired relevant and necessary competences in order to keep on the track of digitalisation of education, something which, without a doubt, will be intensified over the course of the coming years.
